occupation

The Color of Money - The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is a soundtrack album of various blues - and rock musician for the hit movie The Color of Money in 1986. The songwriter Robbie Robertson (formerly The Band ) presented the soundtrack of this movie by Martin Scorsese together which allowed him to work with both Willie Dixon and Gil Evans ;

History of origin

After David Geffen feared that Robertson was neglecting the work on his first solo album and forbade it to stand out clearly in the film music, Robertson got songs from prominent musicians. Contributions from BB King, Don Henley, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Robert Palmer, Warren Zevon and Willie Dixon are represented on the album. Evans, who had drawn up numerous sketches for the film's music, was ultimately only responsible for arranging Robertson's two own contributions. In the film itself, significantly more pieces are used than were ultimately released on the phonogram - including “It's My Life Baby”, implemented by Eric Clapton with the Big Town Playboys .

publication

On 17 October 1986, the soundtrack album was released under the label MCA Records. The company decided to initially only publish the compilation on record and compact cassette. Clapton's contribution It's in the Way That You Use It was released as a single and in November of the same year on his album August . On October 25, 1990, The Color of Money - The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack was also released on compact disc under catalog number DMCG 6023.

Reception and chart success

Critic William Ruhlmann of the music website Allmusic finds that while Eric Clapton contributed the hit single It's in the Way That You Use It , blues greats like BB King, Willie Dixon, Don Henley and (allegedly three times) Robert Palmer also contributed are included in the publication. Ruhlmann awarded 3 of the 5 evaluation units for the soundtrack album. The work was ranked 100th on the Billboard 200 in 1987. The song Who Owns This Place? reached position 3 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs hit parade.
