criticism

The website Entertainment.com gave The Coming a “B +” rating. Busta Rhymes has a voice that hits the listener like a karate kick (“ a voice that hits you like a karate kick ”). The editors of the site praise the sense of humor that the rapper demonstrates on his debut album and that distinguishes him (“ what distinguishes Busta Rhymes is his sense of humor ”).

A positive review came from Stephen Thomas Erlewine for All Music Guide . He notes that Rhymes does not want to convey a more in-depth message with his texts, but is characterized by a refreshing flair (“ Busta doesn't have a deep message in his raps, but he twists words and phrases around with an insane, invigorating flair . "). Like a number of rap albums from the 1990s, The Coming contains too many tracks, with the “ brilliant raps ” by Busta Rhymes ensuring that more monotonous pieces don't worsen the overall impression (“ Busta Rhymes' brilliant raps keep the record from sinking during its monotonous passages ").
