criticism

Entertainment Weekly rated Rhyme's second album with a "B" rating. Despite the help from Puff Daddy and Erykah Badu, Busta Rhymes remains the most original voice in hip-hop (“ Busta Rhymes […] remains hip-hop's most original voice; still, despite help from Puffy Combs and Erykah Badu ”). From the editors' point of view, When Disaster Strikes doesn't seem like a cohesive album (“ this comes off more like a free-associative collision of skits and verbal pyrotechnics than a coherent album ”).

Steve Huey wrote a review for All Music Guide , in which he described the two single releases Dangerous and Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See as great. The second half of the album could not convince due to the numerous guest musicians who cannot replace Busta Rhymes and who are mostly rather boring (“ The second half of the album slows down the momentum somewhat, with a bevy of guests, collaborations, and posse cuts ; a few offer some welcome variety, but often they don't replace Rhymes' manic energy with anything quite as exciting. ").
