criticism

Entertainment Weekly found the album to be rather negative. It Ain't Safe No More is a mediocre album full of lackluster arrangements (" Rhymes' second J Records release is a tragically mediocre album full of lackluster arrangements "). The guest contributions by Mariah Carey or the Neptunes are also uninteresting. From the side's point of view, only four of the 18 tracks on the album are good.

John Bush rated the album positively for the All Music Guide . It Ain't Safe No More stylistically follows the albums When Disaster Strikes and Genesis, which Bush calls "classics" . On Call the Ambulance, Rhymes shows through his lecture, which is described as "hardcore" and funny, what he can do best.
