history

The family began appearing regularly at festive events in 1976 ( but Beyond the City already has a recording of a 1974 performance). Her career took off when she met Alison Krauss , who brought her to the attention of Rounder Records, in the mid-1990s . A wider audience, it was known as Adam Duritz , singer with platinum excellent Counting Crows she was told and was so impressed that he asked her as the opening act to perform at their North American tour.

Alison Krauss, who produced all of the family's albums except the first, recorded some of Sidney's songs herself, for example the title track from her album I've Got That Old Feeling .

After their debut on Wilcox Records, the Cox family recorded two of their own albums on Rounder Records: Everybody's Reaching Out for Someone (1993) and Beyond the City (1995), which earned them a Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass Album . The album I Know Who Holds Tomorrow , which won the 1997 Grammy for Best Country / Gospel / Bluegrass Album , they recorded together with Alison Krauss. They share another Grammy with the other musicians of the compilation Amazing Grace: A Country Salute to Gospel . In 1996 they went to Asylum Records , which are part of the Warner Music Group .

After she did two pieces for the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? who had contributed to the Coen Brothers , they suffered a severe blow of fate in a car accident in which Willard Cox and his wife Marie were seriously injured.
