The Ellen Show is a sitcom by and starring Ellen DeGeneres that ran on CBS from 2001 to 2002 . It was discontinued after a season. The series was DeGeneres' second sitcom after Ellen , which ran from 1994 to 1998. After coming out of DeGeneres' character in Ellen as a lesbian , the figure was also a lesbian in this sitcom. In contrast to the first series, however, the focus here was not on her sexual orientation. The working title of the sitcom was Ellen Again .

After her Internet company Homelearn.com bankruptcy logs in and goes bankrupt, decides Ellen Richmond to return to their hometown. She lives there with her eccentric mother Dot and her clumsy sister Catherine. Her childhood friend Rusty Carnouk wants to revive their old relationship, but it fails because of the fact that Ellen is a lesbian. She also meets her former high school teacher, Ed Munn. Arriving in her old home, Ellen begins to change her way of life and takes a job as a counselor at her former high school.
