The Fateful Dark is the fourth studio album by the English metal band Savage Messiah . It was released on March 14, 2014 via Earache Records .

Emergence

In 2013 the musicians started working on their new album. Drummer Mauricio Chamucero left the band due to visa problems and was replaced by Andrea Gorio. The new songs were written together in the band's rehearsal room over a period of twelve months. The musicians regularly went on concert tours in between.

Was added The Fateful Dark in Grindstone Studios in Essex . The album was produced by Scott Atkins, with whom the band had already produced the previous album Plague of Conscience . The album cover was drawn by the Hungarian Péter Sallai. For the song Hellblazer one was music video shot in which the snake woman Pixie Le Knot can be seen. Le Knot is known from the TV series Game of Thrones .

The song Cross of Babylon was inspired by singer David Silver while reading articles on Freemasonry . Iconocaust is a suitcase word from Iconoclast and Holocaust . In terms of content, the song is about a person's personal responsibility.

The limited version of the album contains three cover versions as bonus tracks . These are Be Quick of Be Dead by Iron Maiden , Lightning to the Nations by Diamond Head and Killers by Motörhead . The version was released via the Earache Records online shop and iTunes .

reception

The Fateful Dark "thrilled" Frank Albrecht from the German magazine Rock Hard "with a firework of great riffs, first-class harmonies and countless breathtaking guitar solo duels". He also highlighted the “strong, memorable refrains ” and the variability between high-tempo Thrash and classic heavy metal, for which he awarded nine out of ten points. According to Marc Halupczok from the German magazine Metal Hammer , Savage Messiah are "heavy and catchy like Annihilator in their best days" on The Fateful Dark . Halupczok awarded six out of seven points for the “strong album”.
