action

Jack Elgin is British and works for The Economist magazine . He flies to India to research an article and takes his family with him. Due to technical problems, the plane lands in Cyprus , where it is hijacked. The kidnappers demand a ransom. They release women and children, but the security forces mistakenly open fire. Elgin's wife and two daughters die.

The kidnappers are released a little later. Elgin takes care of his surviving son and looks for possible political motives for the kidnapping. After this research turns out to be unsuccessful, he focuses on revenge on the immediate perpetrators as well as the people behind them.

An employee of the Serbian print shop advises him that he should look around an old warehouse. He penetrates there and finds an arsenal. Hesitantly and then full of hatred, he shoots some of the perpetrators there when they notice that someone is in the building. The last one is murdered by a stranger. As a result of this incident, FBI investigator Bernard is summoned to the English crime scene and entrusted with the investigation, since the English police mistakenly believe the victims to be simple criminals. With another clue, Elgin can find another perpetrator and kills him while driving with his friend's pistol, which he stole earlier. He gets an alibi in the theater for the time of the crime.

When the head of the gang settles in Paris, Elgin travels there to kill him. But when he notices that the terrorist has a baby daughter, he lets him live. This in turn kills two French policemen who are supposed to arrest him on behalf of Bernard and flees.

After his friend and informant Lewison is attacked, he confides in him, at Bernhard's insistence, and they both recognize that the embassy employee Davidson managed everything in order to liquidate the terrorists in this way. Since Elgin is now also in danger, Bernard accompanies him on the train to a congress, where both are attacked by unknown assassins. Elgin meets the terrorist leader he spared and kills him after Bernard is injured. When he is picked up at the train station by Bernard's assistant Kulindos, Davidson wants to clear up the matter personally and surprises her in the back seat of her car. Elgin ignites a hand grenade in the car and they both jump out of the vehicle. Davidson realizes the situation too late and blows the car up.

In the end, Elgin goes on a sailing trip with his new boat with his son, grandmother Olivia and his girlfriend Kate.

Reviews

The lexicon of international films wrote: “ Prominent action thriller, which prepares the topics of terrorism and“ Law and Order ”as a series of clichés and suffers from weaknesses in the script. He gets annoyed by his title, which refers to the biblical book of Revelation (chapter 15.8) - a reinsurance without existence. "

backgrounds

The film was shot in London , among others . In Spain there were about 179 thousand cinema viewers. In the United States - in connection with the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 - it was only released on video in August 2003.
