The Green Apple Sea is a Nuremberg indie folk band with roots in Emsland , whose music shows strong country and Americana influences.

history

The Green Apple Sea has played concerts and tours with bands and artists such as Seachange , Smog, Cat Power , Luna, The Willard Grant Conspiracy , The Silos, Ben Lee, Radar Bros., The Schramms, The Church , Fink , Missouri . The debut album All Over the Place (Skycap / Zomba ) was released in 2000.

This was followed by the release of a studio session with Missouri for the "Return To Sender" series called By the Time We Get to Phoenix (RTS / Glitterhouse ). In December 2002 the Dutch radio station VPRO invited The Green Apple Sea to record a live session in Amsterdam.

Further tours and concerts in Holland, Luxembourg, Belgium and Denmark followed. In the autumn of 2008 the band played a mini tour in Scotland.

The second album Forever Sounds Great was released in 2007 on Skycap / Rough Trade . In addition to positive feedback in the press and radio, the band was also discovered on the Internet. The band landed on the Myspace America homepage among the top 8 artists of the week and managed to make the current album available in the USA (insound.com) and sell it there.

In November 2007 Rolling Stone magazine put a song from the current album on the Rare-Trax Vol. 54 sampler (“Discover America - US roots from a European perspective”).

The third studio album entitled Northern Sky / Southern Sky , released in October 2010 on K&F Records , brought the band again positive media and audience feedback. In addition to live sessions for Bayerischer Rundfunk in the on3 format , Northern Sky / Southern Sky was album of the week in the NDR night club and got airplay in Deutschlandradio Kultur , Zündfunk and many other formats. The song Satellite Wings ran for 12 weeks in the rotation of the Berlin radio station Radio Eins , the album stayed in the editorial charts of the German Rolling Stone magazine for months.

It was possible to release the album in Portugal and to play a tour there. In January 2011 the band was invited to Europe's most important showcase festival “Eurosonic” in Groningen . In the spring of 2011 The Green Apple Sea played a short tour in Switzerland and France. Northern Sky / Southern Sky was released in Japan in 2012 .

In 2013, the band's songs were used on TV (including jungle camp). The Belgian band The AnnArbor covered the song Satellite Wings and released it as a single for the outstanding album. The song landed at number 42 on the Belgian radio singles chart.

The Green Apple Sea released a download single ( Please Slow Down / One of a Million ) on March 24, 2013 via K&F Records, which was promoted in Germany and the UK. In addition to an invitation to one of the Communion Records club evenings, the band was able to play two more concerts in London and recorded a daytrotter session. The band gained worldwide attention and the single was featured on blogs from Canada, Australia, the US and the UK.

On November 8, 2013, the band released the single December . The title track was mixed by Jack Tarrant (producer at Sony / ATV Publishing) in London, the guitarist for Story Books (Communion Records). At the same time as the release, the band also wants to appear live in Great Britain again.
