Erwin Rehmann

Erwin Rehmann (born November 27, 1921 in Laufenburg ) is a Swiss sculptor .

biography

Rehmann received his education in Laufenburg and in the Wettingen teacher training college . He then studied German language and literature and history for a few semesters at the University of Zurich and the University of Basel . Then he turned to sculpture. After initial impressionist work, he moved towards expressionism .

After exhibiting his works in Switzerland , such as the Kunstmuseum Luzern and Aargauer Kunsthaus , his works were shown in Europe, for example at the Biennale di Venezia , in the Galleria civica d'arte moderna e contemporanea in Turin , in the Musée Rodin in Paris and shown in Vienna . Successes overseas, such as San Francisco and New York, and exhibitions in Asia followed.

Since 2001, Rehmann's works have been exhibited in the Rehmann Sculpture Museum in Laufenburg together with the works of other artists.

Awards

  • 1965: Diplôme et Médaille d'Argent, Conseil Européen d'Art et Esthétique at the Les Arts en Europe exhibition in Brussels.
  • 1966: Hans Arp Prize Biel.
  • 1976: Art Prize of the Canton of Aargau .
  • 1976: Honorary citizenship of the city of Laufenburg .
  • 1978: Silver Medal "The Most Beautiful Books in the World", Israel Museum Jerusalem .
