action

In the middle of the Arizona desert is the state prison of Bill Boss, a choleric and racist maniac who works there as a prison director. Together with his tax advisor Dwight Butler and his secretary Daisy, he tries desperately to bring order there, because violence, aggression and disrespect for the guards are the order of the day in the prison.

The viewer witnesses Bill's aggressive megalomania when he breaks the arm of an inmate who has stabbed an officer with his bare hands as punishment and disfigures the face of another with boiling water. After they get back from their lunch tour, Bill receives a package. He opens it and begins to eat its contents. When asked by Dwight, Bill reveals to him that these are dried clitorides from Africa that are said to give him strength and power.

The government has not gone unnoticed about the conditions in Bill's prison. When Governor Hughes pays a visit to the prison, Bill orders all male inmates to be castrated in a desperate attempt to gain respect. He insists on neutering a prisoner who had previously insulted him personally with his pocket knife in order to have the genitals cooked for lunch afterwards. After Governor Hughes threatened Bill and Dwight that they would be released if conditions in the prison did not change immediately, they tried to find a solution.

Dwight presents Bill with his own idea: Obsessed with the first two The Human Centipede films, he wants to sew all of the inmates together into a single, human millipede. According to Bill, it would not only save them a lot of money and electricity, but also finally gain the long-awaited respect they both deserve. After she and Dr. Jones, the prison doctor who discussed the difficult operation, even gives filmmaker Tom Six permission to use his idea, provided he can continue to attend.

After the first two Human Centipede films were shown to the prisoners in preparation, a riot broke out in which several guards were injured. Bill and Dwight flee to their office. The prisoners manage to break in and one inmate beats Daisy up. Dwight calls for help and the pack is brought back to the cells. Bill immobilizes the inmates with the help of a stun gun. The prison doctor confronts Bill about the fact that some of the inmates are unusable for the millipede because of their old age or illnesses. He shoves his pistol into the anus of an inmate with an enterostomy and shoots him. Another person who suffers from chronic diarrhea, Bill deliberately has the bowel sewn up in front of the inmates he personally castrated as an additional punishment.

After Tom Six and Bill Boss have attended the operation for some time, Bill desperately wants to show him something and leads him to another prison wing, where all of the limbs of some anesthetized inmates are sawed off. Tom Six vomits on the glass and leaves the prison before Bill and Dwight visit Daisy, who is in a coma from the beating. Dwight reveals to Bill that he loves her. He makes fun of him and rapes Daisy's motionless body.

After the human millipede out of 500 is ready, Governor Hughes comes to see the results. Bill proudly presents his work to him. When the governor is on the verge of losing his mind with disgust and revulsion, Bill announces that there is something much better than the human millipede. He himself created what he calls the "human caterpillar": the ultimate punishment for the prisoner for life, sewn together like the millipede, but without any limbs, forced to crawl in the dust and, as with the millipede, to eat the excrement of the previous guest.

Then Hughes notices that Daisy was also accidentally sewn into the millipede and comes to the conclusion that Dwight and Bill are both insane. Out of anger, Bill shoots Dr. Jones, who performed the human millipede surgery. Hughes returns and changes his mind with the sentence "This is exactly what America needs!"

The film ends with Dwight and Bill celebrating their success. Dwight is shot by Bill because it was his idea and Bill wants to benefit from it. In the final scene you can see Bill standing naked in the watchtower and screaming and dancing while watching the human millipede.

production

On May 29, 2013, it was confirmed that Eric Roberts would appear in the film. It was also announced that Laser and Harvey would play the leading roles, but in different roles. Both played the main antagonists in the first two films, Dr. Josef Heiter and Martin Lomax.

The action was to take place in a prison, and the human millipede was to be made up of 500 this time, Six said during the American Film Market .

publication

On April 7, 2015, Entertainment Weekly published May 22, 2015 as the release date.

In Australia, it was released uncut on May 6th with an age rating of 18. Harvey appeared as a guest on a national tour in June. The film was released on July 22, 2015 on DVD and Blu-ray. The film was released uncut in Great Britain and New Zealand.

In an interview, Dieter Laser stated that there were significant problems with the dubbing of the German version. The German distributor couldn't find a dubbing studio for reasons of cost. After the third rejection (the lender should not be willing to pay adequately) to a renowned studio, Laser stated that it would not be available for any further dubbing work until the lender was able to pay its bills.

The uncut version of the film is on list B of the media harmful to minors. In the opinion of the Federal Testing Office for Media Harmful to Young People , the film is subject to a distribution ban. A court will now decide on a possible seizure. There are various uncut versions of the film that have been released on Austrian labels.

criticism

The Human Centipede III received generally negative reviews from critics.

The New York Times critic Jeannette Catsoulis commented: “An ugly, claustrophobic celebration of sexual violence that will always be anchored on screen by two repulsive characters. The frolicking prison director Bill Boss, portrayed by Dieter Laser, almost needs an agent of his own to stick his tongue out. "

Indiewire's Greg Cwik gave the film a C- and said, “Final Sequence is just too stupid to take seriously. Six only relies on disgust. "
