After graduating from high school, Griffin, Phoebe, Alec and Erin spend one final summer together before going to college. They not only experience the summer of their lives, but also think about their private and professional future. During this time, Griffin and Phoebe fall madly in love with each other.

In January 2018 the production of the film with KJ Apa in the central lead role was announced. The film is to be directed by William Bindley from a script by Bindley and his brother Scott. In March and April 2018, Maia Mitchell and Jacob Latimore were given further central leading roles . Filming began in May 2018.
