The Lurking Fear is a death metal band from Sweden founded in 2016 .
history
The Lurking Fear was founded in 2016 by At-the-Gates musicians Tomas Lindberg ( vocals ) and Adrian Erlandsson ( drums ) and since their meeting has consisted of guitarists Jonas Stålhammar from The Crown and Fredrik Wallenberg from Skitsystem, as well as the former Edge -of-Sanity - bassist Andreas Axelsson.
An EP named after the band was released in 2017 as a 7 "release on Moondawn Records and served as a foretaste of the debut album, which was slated for release later this year via Century Media . The debut album, which will be called Out of the Voiceless Grave was finally released on August 11th of the same year.
The group played their first concerts in Germany at Party.San , Summer Breeze and Turock Open Air .

The musicians describe the music as Death Metal of the old school and name bands like Autopsy , Possessed , early Death , Morbid Angel and Slayer , and Slaughter , Master / Death , Bathory and repulsion as musical references.
The musical unique selling point is the balance between tradition and subtle modernity , which both fans of the old school and the new sounds like. The guitar playing is perceived as "sawing", the bass "dull." The songs sound wild and impetuous. Slight influences from Thrash and Groove Metal are also attested.
Michael Meyer from Powermetal.de writes that the songs "pop out of the speakers" with an extremely played tempo and impress every now and then with great guitar melodies. He writes that The Lurking Fear sounds like At the Gates mixed with The Crown , Grotesque and Edge of Sanity .
