Skitsystem was a Swedish crustcore band from Gothenburg that was founded in 1994 under the name System Collapse and disbanded in 2007.

history

The band was formed towards the end of 1994. After a few rehearsals, the first performance followed under the name System Collapse together with Extinction of Mankind , Warcollapse , Counterblast and Non Fortes Sed Crudeles. The band initially consisted of the singer and guitarist Tomas Lindberg and the drummer Adrian Erlandsson, who already knew each other through their collaboration at At the Gates , as well as the singer and guitarist Fredrik Wallenberg and the bassist and Alexander Höglind. At the beginning of 1995, the band went to Studio Fredmann to record the first six songs. The band had previously received a contract with Distortion Records . For the recordings, the band borrowed some recording time from At the Gates, which the studio had actually booked. The EP was released under the name Profithysteri . Before the release of their first EP, the band renamed themselves Skitsystem. In early 1996, the band went back to Studio Fredman to record the EP Ondskans Ansätze , which included 10 songs. The band again borrowed recording time from At the Gates, who had booked the studio to record their album Slaughter of the Soul . After that it became quiet around the band and there were rumors that the project had met the same fate as the group At the Gates , which broke up in the summer of 1996. Lindberg left the band for about a year and a half while the rest of the members wrote new material. Towards the end of 1997 the split- release Levande Lik followed together with Wolfpack . The three songs included were unused songs that were created during the recording of Ondskan's Anskten . Then drummer Erlandsson left the band to devote himself to his other project The Haunted . In the spring of 1998 Lindberg returned to the band, while Karl "Kalle" Persson joined the band as the new drummer. For the first time concerts followed at regular intervals. In July the band went on a tour of North America with Crippled Heroes . Back in Sweden, further appearances followed, as well as work on the debut album. In January 1999 the band went to the Soundlab Studios and Punkpalatset in Örebro to record 15 songs, which were released as the album Grå Värld / Svarta Tankar . The album was produced by Mieszko Talarczyk . In the summer of 1999 the band performed at the Hultsfred Festival. In the summer of the same year, the band also held various other concerts. In 2001 the second album, Enkel Resa Till Rännstenen, followed . The band went back to the Soundlab Studio in 2001, again with Talarczyk as producer, to record 16 new songs. 12 of these songs made up the album Enkel Resa Till Rännstenen , which was released on Havoc Records as LP and on No Tolerance Records as CD . Two of the unused songs were found on a split release with Nasum that was released in 2002 through No Tolerance Records. Other songs were also included on the sampler More World, Less Bank , which was released in 2003 via Halvfabrikat Records . Then the band went on a European tour together with the Swedish band Victims . The band played in Germany and the Netherlands . Meanwhile Lindberg took care of his other projects like Lock Up , Nightrage , The Crown and Disfear before he left the band in spring 2004. Mikael Kjellman joined the band as guitarist, while bassist Höglind now also took over the vocals. This was followed by some appearances in Europe and some local ones in Sweden and played among other things as an opening act for Poison Idea . On August 27, the band embarked on a four and a half week tour of North America, playing with groups like Tragedy , Misery, Hellshock, Fucked Up , Behind Enemy Lines and Kylesa . After the tour, the band wrote new material. The band then went back to Studio Fredman to record the album Stigmata . The sound carrier was released in 2006 via Iron Fist Productions . In 2007 the band broke up.

style

Grå Värld / Svarta Tankar offered a quickly and simply played mixture of D-Beat and Crustcore. The texts are mostly written in the Swedish language . The band played hardcore punk on stigmata , which also made extensive use of D-beat and crustcore. The guitar riffs are reminiscent of Swedish Death Metal . The partly Swedish, partly English texts deal with socio-political issues such as sexual abuse, the police state or the hidden racist system within the EU .
