The Order of Chaos is a Canadian heavy metal band.

history

The band was founded in 2004 by John Simon Fallon in Edmonton .

In 2009, the debut album The Order of Chaos was self-published , but shortly afterwards the band signed a contract with the German music label Killer Metal Records , which released the second album Burn These Dreams in 2011 . While a man was responsible for the growling on the debut as the second singer , on the second work - with John Simon Fallon and John Saturlay on guitars, Sterling Burrows on bass and Tim Prevost on drums - Amanda Kiernan took over the vocals alone.

According to their own statements, the band signed a booking contract with Red Lion Music from Germany in late summer 2012. As a result, the band performed their second overseas appearance at the 2012 Turock Open Air ( Essen.Original. ), But their first appearance in Germany. The first overseas appearance was in the Netherlands in Kerkgrade. About half a year later, a European tour followed as the opening act for Vicious Rumors .

As a harbinger of the third album, the title track Apocalypse Moon was released as a music video in June 2015 . The album itself was released in November and the musicians went on a European tour as the opener for Battle Beast .

style

In a review of the third studio album, a reviewer judged that the band celebrated “mercilessly hard heavy metal”. Musically, the band is comparable to Kobra and the Lotus or Unleash the Archers . Elsewhere, The Order of Chaos is referred to as a modern and aggressive band, which stylistically can be brought closer to Iron Maiden due to the melodies and close to Judas Priest due to their effect . Specifically, the instrumental faction is “wilder” “in the gray area” between Thrash , Melodic Death and technical Death Metal . The vocal spectrum of singer Amanda Kiernan ranges from clear singing to the border areas of Death Metal.

reception

The e-zine Crossfire described all the songs on the third album as “Thrash grenades” and hardly any other band with a singer deserved the fame as “The Order of Chaos”. The bottom line is 8 out of 10 possible points. The English-language magazine Metal Temple came to the same overall conclusion with 8 out of 10 points, awarding 8 points each for originality, catchiness and production as well as 9 points for songwriting in the detailed evaluation. At Powermetal.de the album "was definitely one of the highlights of the second half of the year" in 2015. Infrared Magazine called the album the band's best to date and awarded the full set of 10 points.

On the second album, the reviews were not so unanimous. While in Rock Hard, for example, it was criticized that the band was “quite predictable in their attempt to be chaotic” and that the vocals were “really put on”, Stormbringer received 4 out of 5 points for a “well-crafted, varied record” forgive.
