Ferdinand von Ploetz

Julius Wilhelm Ferdinand von Ploetz (born June 12, 1801 in Glogau , † April 23, 1886 in Schweidnitz ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Ferdinand was a son of the Prussian lieutenant colonel and later postmaster von Zehdenick Johann Ludwig von Ploetz (1744-1824) and his wife Marianne Hedwig, née von Poyda (1767-1836).

Military career

Ploetz visited the Berlin cadet house and on May 5, 1818 was transferred to the Emperor Franz Grenadier Regiment of the Prussian Army as portepeefähnrich . With the promotion to second lieutenant he was aggregated to the regiment at the end of September 1819 and assigned to the regiment at the end of January 1821. At the end of March 1830 he was appointed adjutant of the 4th Division in Stargard . Left in this command, Ploetz was aggregated to the 2nd Infantry Regiment on March 30, 1832 as Prime Lieutenant . He rose to captain at the end of March 1838 and was transferred to the 24th Infantry Regiment as a company commander on April 7, 1842 with a patent from August 9, 1836 . He was promoted to major on March 27, 1847, when he was transferred to the 12th Landwehr Regiment as commander of the 2nd battalion. From mid-April 1848 to mid-May 1850 Ploetz was in the same position at III. Battalion, then became battalion commander in the 27th Infantry Regiment and was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 22, 1853. On October 26, 1854, he was transferred to the 31st Infantry Regiment as commander . There he became a colonel on July 12, 1855. On December 19, 1857, Ploetz was promoted to command of the 22nd Infantry Brigade in Breslau and on November 22, 1858 to major general. In this position, he received the Order of St. Stanislaus II. Class at the end of October 1859 and, on the occasion of the coronation celebrations of King Wilhelm I in October 1861, the star for the Order of the Red Eagle II. Class with Oak Leaves. With the character of lieutenant general, Ploetz was put up for disposal on February 5, 1863 with a pension . He was an honorary knight of the Order of St. John and died on April 23, 1886 in Schweidnitz.

Ploetz married Luise von Quillfeldt (1808–1885) in Berlin on October 11, 1830. The couple had several children:
