The Soldier Thread was an indie rock / alternative rock band from Austin , Texas , United States .

The Soldier Thread was founded in 2007 and consisted of the musicians Todd Abels ( backing vocals , guitar , keyboard ), Justin McHugh (backing vocals, keyboard, guitar), Patricia Lynn ( vocals , violin , keyboard), Drew Vandiwer ( drums ) and Chance Gilmore ( bass ).

Shortly after it was founded, the band began giving concerts in the Austin area. Concerts all over Texas followed later . The group worked with producer Dwight Baker on their debut album In Spades , which was released in 2010. The group was a finalist in Spin Magazine's “Hot Pursuit” contest, so their music was featured on MTV's The Real World: Hollywood .

Patricia Lynn's relationship with Blue October singer Justin Furstenfeld helped her to appear as a guest musician on their August 16, 2011 album Any Man in America . There she sang a duet in the final song The Follow Through .

Her song Anybody , where Austin-born rapper Zeale can also be heard, was played on KROX FM on 101X .

In May 2011, the group toured nationally for the first time. The Soldier Thread performed with rock band Blue October in Illinois , Wisconsin , Missouri , Nebraska , Ohio , New York , Massachusetts , Pennsylvania , Maryland , North Carolina , Georgia and Florida . In November 2012, the group announced its breakup. Patricia Lynn and Dwight Baker founded the group The Wind and the Wave .
