action

One day the student Basara Tōjō is told out of the blue by his father Jin Tōjō that he will marry again and that his new mother, who is currently abroad, will bring two daughters into the marriage: Mio and Maria Naruse. These move in with you immediately and after a few initial difficulties, he and she get along quite well. When his father has to leave because of his job as a photographer and Basara is alone with his two new sisters, they both reveal themselves as demons: Mio is the future demon queen and Maria is a succubus and Mios bodyguard. Maria says that she only implanted the memories of his future wife in Basara's father and that they will now erase Basara's memories of her in order to make Basara's house her new home. This fails, however, as Basara, like his father, who knew about all of this, are outcast members of the hero clan. His father tells him that Mio is the daughter of the former Demon King and is being persecuted by the current one. Basara therefore decides to recognize Mio and Maria as sisters anyway and to protect them from other demons and the heroic clan. At Mios school, to which he was transferred, he meets his former childhood friend Yuki Nonaka, who was assigned to watch Mios by the hero clan and who is now torn between her love for Basara and her loyalty to her clan.

Characters

Basara Tōjō ( 東城 刃 更 , Tōjō Basara )
Speaker: Yūichi Nakamura (Japanese), Oliver Scheffel (German)
Basara is the protagonist of the plot, attends the 10th grade and is a former member of the hero clan. He has the Banishing Shift ability (無 次 元 の 執行バ ニ シ ン グ シ フ ト, Banishingu Shifuto , dt. "Execution of dimensionlessness"), which allows him to neutralize any magic directed against him. Therefore, in his childhood, he was considered the most promising talent of the clan. However, five years ago an evil spirit took possession of several members of his village and carried out a massacre. However, when trying to save his childhood friend Yuki, his ability got out of hand and killed several members of his village. Therefore, he was expelled from the heroic clan and he himself suffered a trauma that prevents him from exercising his ability.
He decides to help Mio and Maria despite their identity as demons; on the one hand because of Mios previous history and also because he knows that neither of them wanted any harm, as they could have tried to use force to seize his house, but preferred the gentle method of memory manipulation. He fights with his magical sword Brynhildr and his high speed.
When Maria suggests entering into a master-servant pact with Mio as master, which would allow both to know each other's position and improve their fighting skills, this is surprisingly drawn up by Maria in such a way that Basara finally becomes Mios master. Later, after Mio, Yuki, Kurumi and Zest were added. Since the pact is invoked by the Succubi Maria, it goes hand in hand with the fact that the strength of the improvement in fighting skills depends on how strong the sexual relationship between Basara and the girls is.
Mio Naruse ( 成 瀬 澪 , Naruse Mio )
Speaker: Ayaka Asai (Japanese), Katharina von Daake (German)
Mio is the daughter of the former Demon King Wilbert. She grew up with a human family without knowing that she was a demon, until her foster family was murdered by followers of the new Demon King six months before the start of the action. He wants to kill her to get the power of the previous demon king. She and Maria were on the run for the next six months until they found shelter at Basara. She has a stubborn character and develops feelings for Basara. At first she unwittingly becomes the subordinate of Basara in a master-servant pact. Mio fights with spells.
Yuki Nonaka ( 野 中 柚 希 , Nonaka Yuki )
Speaker: Sarah Emi Bridcutt
Yuki is Basara's and Mio's classmate and was entrusted with the task of monitoring Mio by the hero clan. She has been in love with Basara since she was a child, all the more since it saved her life and was cast out for it, for which she blames herself. Because of this, she has a withdrawn character, apart from when she talks to Basara. When she is given the task of getting rid of Mio by the hero clan and thus has to face Basara, she finally joins him and also enters into a master-servant pact with him. She fights with the spirit sword Sakuya ( 咲 夜 ).
Maria Naruse ( 成 瀬 万 理 亜 , Naruse Maria )
Speaker: Kaori Fukuhara (Japanese), Mia Maron (German)
Maria is a young succubus. She was sent by the moderate faction among the demons to protect Mio and would give her life for them. As a succubus, she has a mischievous character and loves to put Basara and the girls in sexually compromising and embarrassing situations. Despite her petite figure, she is an extremely powerful hand-to-hand fighter, especially when charged with sexual energy.
Kurumi Nonaka ( 野 中 胡桃 , Nonaka Kurumi )
Speaker: Iori Nomizu
Kurumi is Yuki's younger sister, whom she adores very much. As such, she harbored a grudge against Basara, as Yuki suffered from self-reproach for years after his exile. However, she slowly opens up to him again when she sees that he also suffered from it, and later enters into a master-servant pact with him herself. She specializes in summoning nature spirits.
Zest ( ゼ ス ト , Zesuto )
Speaker: Seiko Yoshida
Zest was the right hand of the demon Zolgear, who was also its creator. As his servant, she initially supported his plan to be able to take the inherited powers of Mios in order to become the demon king himself. While observing Mio and Basara, she developed a certain envy of their master-servant relationship. After Zolgear's defeat, she later also becomes a servant of Bazaar.
Chisato Hasegawa ( 長谷川 千里 , Hasegawa Chisato )
Speaker: Yū Asakawa
Chisato is the attractive nurse at Mios and Basara's school. She often gives Basara advice and knows about his nature. In fact, she is not human, but was sent from heaven to monitor Mio. Her real name is Afureia. It turns out that she is Basara's aunt and that she was committed to protecting him after she died. She obviously has deep feelings for him and tries to seduce him in appropriate situations.
Yahiro Takigawa ( 滝 川 八 尋 , Takigawa Yahiro ) /Lars ( ラ ー ス , Rāsu )
Speaker: Tomokazu Sugita
Yahiro is the first friend Basara makes at his new school. However, it turns out that he is a demon named Lars who was hired by the Demon King to monitor Mio. However, he is exposed by Basara while trying to fully awaken Mios demon power. Due to his failure Lars would get into big problems in the demon world itself, which in turn would lead to the fact that he would be replaced as Mios observer by another, possibly even stronger demon. Basara therefore proposes to him to enter into an alliance for the benefit of both parties in order to maintain the status quo, which Lars responds to and provides Basara with information on several occasions.
Jin Tōjō ( 東城 迅 , Tōjō Jin )
Speaker: Keiji Fujiwara (Japanese), Mike Carl (German)
Jin is Basara's father, who is considered one of the strongest heroes and is feared even by the demons. He joined Basara's exile and is now working externally as a photographer. Knowing about Mios situation, he decided to help her when he met her by pretending that Maria's memory manipulation had an effect on him.

Adaptations

Manga

Two manga series were created for the novels. An implementation drawn by Miyako Kashiwa was published in Kadokawa Shoten's manga magazine Shōnen Ace from May 25, 2013 (issue 7/2013) to April 26, 2017 (issue 6/2017). The chapters were summarized in nine anthologies ( Tankōbon ). The seventh volume received a Blu-ray as an extra.

The manga was licensed in the USA by Seven Seas and has been published since February 2016.

The series was published in German from November 5, 2015 to February 1, 2018 by Egmont Manga .

The publisher Hakusensha ran in the magazine Young Animal Arashi (Issue No. 3/2014) of 7 February 2014 to 6 May 2016 (No. 6/2016), a spin-off called The Testament of Sister New Devil: Arashi! ( 新 妹 魔王 の 契約 者 ・ 嵐! ), With the English subtitle The testament of sister new devil another side story [Arasi!] . Five anthologies have been published on this version drawn by Fumihiro Kiso.
