Paul Faber (diplomat)
Paul Faber (born April 6, 1943 - June 19, 2014 ) was a former Luxembourg diplomat .
Faber studied law at the Universities of Luxembourg , Aix-en-Provence and Paris , graduating with a Dr. jur. (1967). In 1971 Faber entered the diplomatic service and until 1991 held various positions in the Luxembourg Foreign Ministry and the diplomatic missions of the Grand Duchy , including in 1976 as permanent representative to the European Community in Brussels .
In 1986 he was appointed permanent representative of Luxembourg to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg . In December 1993 he took over the post of grand ducal ambassador to Portugal , then in February 1998 he became ambassador to Italy , Malta and San Marino , as well as permanent representative to the FAO (based in Rome ). In 2002 he was transferred to Vienna as ambassador to Austria , Hungary and Slovenia , and as permanent representative to the OSCE , the IAEA, UNIDO and the United Nations Office in Vienna .
In October 2005 he was accredited as ambassador to Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein (based in Bern ). In 2007 he retired.
