action
Emily and her friends occupy a London house. The owner hires Jamie to clear the property. Jamie tries first to fulfill his mission, later he befriends the occupiers.
Jamie learns from Emily to take an HIV test and not to eat for a day. He brings her to their parents. He enters into a love triangle with Lizzie and Adam .
The group is ambushed by a gang and one of the members, Ricky, is seriously injured. Ricky is admitted to a hospital. The gang demolished the garden of the house that evening. Lizzie is moving away. A little later, Emily follows suit after she has had goodbye sex with Jamie and offers him the prospect of seeing him again later.
Reviews
Chris Allison wrote on www.screenonline.org.uk that the film reinterpreted the social experiments and the spread of new religions of the 1960s. However, the group members would live more comfortably than those in the 1960s and use such things as cell phones. The film offers the usual visual flair for Poliakoff, such as the “expressionistic” use of red.
Rotten Tomatoes editors wrote that Jeremy Northam was "excellent as always" . Joely Richardson, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Anna Friel were also mentioned from the “impressive” cast.
background
The film was shot in London and Surrey . It was first published in the UK on June 21, 1998 by the BBC .
