The Twiolins are a violin duo from Mannheim consisting of the two violinists Marie-Luise Dingler (* 1984) and Christoph Dingler (* 1986). They play pieces for violin duo from baroque to classical, romantic and modern to contemporary pieces. The Twiolins play violins made by the renowned violin maker Martin Schleske . They are particularly known for their very good interaction and sound identity. Since 2009 they have been holding the international composition competition Crossover Composition Award every 3 years to enlarge the repertoire for the line-up of 2 violins, from 2019 this competition will be called the Progressive Classical Music Award .

history

The Twiolins successfully participated in popular music competitions at the age of eleven. At Jugend musiziert they were awarded the first federal prize six times. In addition, they were members of the state and federal youth orchestras in their youth . Both studied violin with Dora Bratchkova at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim . The Twiolins have given concerts in many European countries as well as China , New Zealand , the United Arab Emirates , India and Bangladesh .

They performed solo and a. with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie , the Philharmonie Baden-Baden , the Brandenburg State Orchestra , the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn , the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès (Spain), the New Ideas Chamber Orchestra (Lithuania), the Mannheim Philharmonic , the Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester and have performed several times broadcast on national and international radio and television ( SWR , SWR2 , RBB , Center TV, Desh TV and many others).

Awards

The Twiolins are prizewinners of the Adolf Metzner Foundation , the Heinrich Vetter Foundation and the Hofheim International Violin Competition . They also won 2nd prize in the internal university competition “Interpretation of Contemporary Music” at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim and made it to the semi-finals at the Torneo Internazionale de Musica in Italy.
