The Unit - A Matter of Honor is an American television series . It was broadcast from March 7, 2006 to May 10, 2009 on the US television channel CBS . It is about a fictional special unit that reports directly to the president and carries out secret missions around the world. The series is based on the Delta Force . The series was created by David Mamet and is based on the book Inside Delta Force: The Story of America's Elite Counterterrorist Unit by ex-Delta Force soldier Eric Lee Haney . The series was produced by The Barn Productions Inc., David Mamet Entertainment and Fire Ants Films in association with 20th Century Fox Television and CBS Paramount Television.
Production and broadcast
After the continuation of the series was unclear for a long time, CBS ordered a fourth season on May 12, 2008. Their broadcast began on September 28, 2008. On May 20, 2009, CBS announced the discontinuation of the series after four seasons.
The German-language first broadcast took place in March 2007 on Sat.1 . Only the first three seasons were shown until 2010, with the third season not being broadcast on Sat.1, but on Kabel Eins . The fourth season has now been broadcast on ProSieben Maxx almost four years later since April 16, 2014 .
As of February 28, 2008, all four seasons have been released on DVD one after the other.
