The World's 50 Best Restaurants
The World's 50 Best Restaurants is a list that was published annually in April in London from 2002 to 2019 and aims to name the current fifty best restaurants in the world.

The magazine Restaurant Magazine organizes every year the publication of the list since of 2002. To create it, the world is divided into 26 regions, each with 40 specialists responsible. Each regional council has a chairman. Although the list is called "The World's 50 Best Restaurants," 100 restaurants are listed.
As of 2019, restaurants that once topped the list can no longer be re-elected.
In 2019, the list in its expanded form includes 120 restaurants. This is due to the 120th birthday of the sponsor San Pellegrino.

Seven different restaurants topped the list over the sixteen years, five European and two American.

Ferran Adrià characterizes the award ceremony as “the great festival of world cuisine that goes hand in hand with a great media response” ( “la gran fiesta de la cocina mundial y como tal tiene una gran repercusión mediática” ). The list itself is a thermometer of hot places, of people who risk something because of creativity ( “un termómetro de los sitios están calientes, de la gente que arriesga y apuesta por la creatividad” ).
The chef Martín Berasategui, on the other hand, described the list in 2012, on which he was 67th, as a "hoax" ( "patraña" ) and said that behind it was a multinational food company that wanted to harm the Michelin Guide . Several restaurant critics call this list dubious. Other reviewers see the list as a reference to the currently trendy restaurants.
