Theo Farrell

Theo Farrell (* 1967 ) is a British military historian and political scientist .

Life

Farrell studied history at University College Dublin (BA, MA). In 1989 he obtained a diploma in international relations from the University of Vienna . In 1994 he did his Ph.D. in Politics from the University of Bristol .

He is Professor of War in the Modern World at King's College London . From 2013 to 2016 he was head of the Department of War Studies there .

He has been an Associate Fellow of the Royal United Services Institute since 2009 . In 2011 he was Chair of the Advisory Board of the Danish Center for War Studies. He worked for the Economic and Social Research Council in a variety of ways . In 2012/13 he was Chair of the British International Studies Association . Farrell was the Associate Editor of Security Studies and Review of International Studies . He was also a strategy advisor for two commanders of the ISAF and appeared as an expert for the House of Commons .

Farrell is the author of numerous books.
