Theodor Frank (politician)

Theodor Frank (born September 14, 1826 in Teningen ; † October 3, 1889 ibid) was a member of the Baden state parliament , farmer, mayor , veterinarian and warden master .

Life

Theodor Frank was the son of Friederika Engler, his father Wilhelm Frank was a veterinarian and messenger .

Frank attended the Latin school in Emmendingen and the grammar school in Freiburg and settled in Teningen after his military service as a farmer and veterinarian . Frank was later appointed District Veterinarian for Emmendingen.

From 1864 to 1875 he was Teninger Mayor . In the period from 1869 to 1880 he was a member of the Baden state parliament in Karlsruhe , where he belonged to the National Liberal parliamentary group and usually received over 80% of the electoral votes in the elections.

In 1873 Frank was chairman of the committee meeting of the Agricultural Credit Association , which was the forerunner of the Volksbank Emmendingen credit cooperative founded in 1875 and of which Frank was appointed to its first board member.

Theodor Frank came from the local executioner family for the margraviate of Baden-Hachberg . His ancestor Georg Adolf Franck had taken over the Teningen office of executioner and warden master in 1695, which passed on to the family descendants up to his father Wilhelm Frank. Theodor Frank had still performed the function of the Wasenmeister himself.

Numerous members of Frank's executioner and warden dynasty held these offices in other places, such as Strasbourg , Lahr , Müllheim and Usingen . Some of Theodor Frank's descendants still practice as a veterinarian today. At the naming ceremony in 1994, the family made a donation of 5,000 DM for the introduction of partial all-day care at the school.

Frank was married to Anna Marie Menton from Teningen.
