Theodor Schubach

Theodor Schubach (* 1985 in Berlin ) is a German composer .

Life

Schubach attended the Dresden Special School for Music from 1997 to 2004 . During his school days he received piano lessons from Gunnar Nauck and Marlies Jacob and improvisation lessons from Anja Damianow and Ute Pruggmayer-Philipp .

After graduating from high school, he studied conducting with Ekkehard Klemm , composition with Wilfried Krätzschmar and Jörg Herchet and electroacoustic music (at the Studio for Electronic Music ) with Franz Martin Olbrisch and Michael Flade at the Academy of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden and composition with Clemens Gadenstätter and Mark Andre at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz . In addition, he took master classes with Brian Ferneyhough , Bernhard Lang , Enno Poppe and Rebecca Saunders u. a. in Tel Aviv, Warsaw and Graz. Since 2011 he has been enrolled in the master’s degree in composition and computer music with Marco Stroppa and Piet Johan Meyer at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts .

His works were u. a. interpreted by the singers Lisa Fornhammar and Anna Palimina and the pianist Ian Pace . In addition, the ensemble courage , the Ensemble Sortisatio , the Dresden Philharmonic ( KlangNetz Dresden ) and the Loh-Orchester Sondershausen have already performed his pieces. His compositions have been heard at the Next Generation Festival of the Center for Art and Media Technology (ZKM) in Karlsruhe, at the Resonanzen Festival for Audio Art in Leipzig, at the Darmstadt Summer Courses and in the Experimental Studio Academy / matrix 10 in Freiburg.
