Theodor Spoerri

Theodor H. Spoerri (born April 7, 1924 in Uster ; † November 18, 1973 ) was a Swiss psychiatrist .

Life

Spoerri studied medicine and psychology at the universities of Zurich , Basel and Tübingen and received his doctorate in medicine in 1949 and in psychology in 1950. From 1951 to 1956 he worked at the Waldau Psychiatric University Clinic , initially as an assistant , later as a senior physician . In 1955 he received his habilitation at the University of Bern. In 1957/1958 he received a scholarship from the Swiss National Science Foundation . From 1959 to 1963 Spoerri was senior physician at the Münsingen Psychiatric Clinic under Hans Walther-Büel . In 1963 he followed Walther-Büel to the Waldau, where he was appointed associate professor and vice director of the Waldau in 1964. In 1967 he became a full professor and director of the University Psychiatric Clinic in Bern.

His wife Elka was a Swiss art historian and made a name for herself primarily through her work on Adolf Wölfli .
