Meschenbach is a district of the community of Frankenblick in the district of Sonneberg in Thuringia .

The settlement on Eschenbach is located on Kreisstraße 33 from Effelder to the south, which leads through the village to Döhlau and Bavaria .
history
The village was first mentioned in documents around 1288. The community records 1340 according to the deed book of the Banz monastery . The name is called Kleines Dorf am Eschenbach , and was stated in the Sonnefeld monastery . In 1923/24 the place was merged with Rauenstein for the first time. On May 1, 1992 it was again incorporated into Rauenstein. From 1994 to 2012 Meschenbach belonged to the municipality of Effelder-Rauenstein , since 2013 to the municipality of Frankenblick .
Agriculture and toy manufacturing were the main sources of income. Many workers went to Rauenstein in the porcelain factory Rauenstein to work. In 2012, 125 people lived in the village.
Attractions
- The Zinselshöhle is a 170 meter long karst cave that the Retschenbach washed into the Schalkau shell limestone . It was first mentioned in 1728. In 1988 the entrance was rediscovered. Guided tours are possible from May 1st to September 30th.
