Jakob Wyrsch

Jakob Wyrsch (born June 12, 1892 in Stans , † January 29, 1980 in Bern ) was a Swiss psychiatrist and writer .

Life

Jakob Wyrsch was born as the son of the doctor and politician Jakob Wyrsch and Josefa geb. Stockmann. He studied medicine at the University of Zurich and graduated in 1919 with the state examination and in 1920 with a doctorate . In 1920/21 he worked as an assistant doctor under Eugen Bleuler at the Burghölzli sanatorium in Zurich. After studying in Paris and London, he became an assistant doctor in the Lucerne sanatorium and nursing home St. Urban in 1923 , which he took over in 1925. In 1934 he moved to the Waldau sanatorium in Bern as a senior physician . He initially taught as a private lecturer, from 1945 as an associate professor for forensic psychiatry at the University of Bern .

In addition, Wyrsch was active as a writer. He dealt in particular with the personalities and culture of central Switzerland .
