Theodor Vierck
Theodor "Theo" Vierck (born December 4, 1910 in Ausackerholz ; † January 5, 1998 in Kiel ) was a German Protestant pastor, long-time director of the Heimvolkshochschule on Koppelsberg and a member of the Confessing Church in Schleswig-Holstein .
Life
family
Theodor Vierck was married and had several children. During the war and the construction of the parsonage in Moorrege , his wife lived temporarily in Bad Bentheim , where the children were born. After his professional change to Schleswig, the family lived in the St. John's Monastery outside Schleswig . Theodor Vierck is the father of the archaeologist Hayo Vierck .
Theological position in National Socialism
Theodor Vierck adhered to members of the Confessing Church early on and finally joined the “Confessional Community of the Evangelical Lutheran Church ”. Landeskirche Schleswig-Holstein ” , but was not drafted into military service. Vierck was Otto von Dorrien's companion and later reported on him as an eyewitness in publications such as the Breklumer Hefte or “Zeit, die Narrien ” .
Professional activity
After his ordination on June 31, 1935 in Kiel, he was first assistant chaplain in Uetersen , before he took over the 3rd parish of the parish Uetersen "Am Kloster" in 1936, from which the parish Moorrege-Heist emerged. Under his leadership, the foundations for the parish, which became independent in 1954, were laid and the pastorate with the church hall was built in 1938/39. After the end of the Second World War, he moved to the Diakonissenanstalt Flensburg as a hospital chaplain in 1946 and then to the state hospital in Schleswig in 1952 . In 1955, Vierck took over the management of the newly founded Evangelical Lutheran Landvolk University in Koppelsberg, succeeding Otto von Stockhausen, and expanded it further, so that the entire school building could be inaugurated in 1961. Until his retirement on July 1, 1976, Vierck had been pastor of the Flintbek parish since 1966 .
