Life

Origin and family

Theodor Werner von Bocholtz zu Niesen was the son of Caspar Arnold Jobst von Bocholtz zu Niesen and his wife Maria Theresia von Melschede zu Alme. Career and work

After the death of his wife, Theodor Werner embarked on a spiritual career and received a Münster cathedral praise from his uncle Ferdinand Wilhelm in 1774 , which he exchanged for Engelbert von Landsberg's Paderborn priest . After the resignation of his uncle Ferdinand Wilhelm, he received this prebend back in 1783, which he renounced in 1796 in favor of Clemens August von Korff . Theodor Werner put the focus of his work in Paderborn, where he succeeded Johann Friedrich von Schaesberg as President of the Privy Council in 1775 . After the death of the provost Franz Arnold von der Asseburg , the Paderborn cathedral chapter chose Theodor Werner as his successor. He was a subdeacon and also exercised the office of Drosten in Bevergern and Herstelle. He is also known as Paderborn's Oberstmarschall and Herr zu Störmede, Alme and Niesen.
