Theodor van Hülst

Sicco Theodor van Hülst (born October 2, 1847 in Emden , † March 26, 1926 in Norden , East Frisia) was a landowner and a member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Theodor van Hülst was the son of the Mennonite preacher Laurens van Hülst and was born as one of nine children. He attended the Ulrichsgymnasium in Norden and became a farmer. From 1865 he attended the agricultural school in Neuchâtel , 1867/68 the Polytechnic School in Hanover and 1869/70 the agricultural teaching institute in Berlin . In 1871 he married Indina Johanna Hermann Rieken.

Van Hülst was chairman of the association for the refinement of horse and cattle breeding in Norden, member of the board of the local association for poor relief, as well as vice-president of the agricultural association Norden-Berum and dyke and sewage judge. He was also director of the Norder Fehn Society from 1881 to 1914.

From 1884 to 1893 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of the Province of Hanover 1 Emden , Norden , Weener and the National Liberal Party . He was a member of the executive committee of the National Liberal Party from 1887 to 1890.
