Installations

Stratorama , Brandenburg State Archaeological Museum

Thomas Bartel created several didactic installations for museums. In particular, he created stratigraphic models of the earth's layers for various archaeological museums. The stratigraphic model of the earth's layers in the State Museum of Archeology in Chemnitz ( smac ), for example, is the tallest installation of this type in Germany at 21.33 meters. The large stratigraphic diorama in the Paulikloster (or Stratorama for short ) in the Brandenburg State Archaeological Museum in Brandenburg an der Havel deals with the structure of an archaeological excavation section with different cultural layers from the present to the Ice Age . It was created within a year from May 2009 to May 2010 and is considered one of the highlights of the state museum's permanent exhibition.

At the site of the Battle of Wittstock during the Thirty Years War there is a viewing and memorial platform. This was opened on May 8, 2015 in a former water tank of a pump house. Bartel created the so-called Room of Silence. Here, for example, grave finds such as skeletons of fallen soldiers are modeled.
