Career

Thomas Bauer started his career in 2000 and 2001 by taking part in his first short track competitions. He achieved his success in international competitions with the German relay. At the Junior World Championships in South Korea in 2002 , Bauer won second place with the German relay.

Two years later, Bauer won the bronze medal at the 2004 European Championships with Sebastian Praus , André Hartwig and Arian Nachbar in the German relay team and only had to admit defeat to Italy and Russia , a little more than two seconds behind. A year later, the German team in the same line-up as Bauer decided the relay competition at the European Championships 2005 with a lead of over five seconds and won the gold medal. At the 2006 European Championships , Bauer and Sebastian Praus, André Hartwig and Tyson Heung in the German team finally won the bronze medal in the relay competition, just under two seconds behind Italy and less than a tenth of a second on France .

At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , Thomas Bauer came with Arian Nachbar, Tyson Heung and Sebastian Praus in the relay competition to the semifinals, but then only reached third place behind Canada and South Korea , after shortly before due to a fall of Tyson Heung Ended in second place. Since only the best two teams of both semifinals are qualified for the final, Bauer ran with the German relay against the Australian relay for places six to seven, with the German relay falling behind the Australians after failures and more than twelve seconds behind the finish line reached seven.

Thomas Bauer ended his active sports career in 2006. In September 2009 he finished his training as a physiotherapist in Mainz . Since then he has been working as a physiotherapist.
