André Hartwig (born March 14, 1983 in Rostock ) is a former German short tracker .

André Hartwig started for ESV Turbine Rostock . At the Junior World Championships in 2000 he finished 14th over 500 m and 1500 m. At the men's European championships of the year he came in 13th place over 500 m, was 20th over 100 m, 24th over 1500 m and 19th over 3000 m. With the season he came in sixth. The third major event was the world championships. Hartwig was 47th in the all-around competition, 46th over 500m, 41st over 1000m and 47th over 1500m and 3000m. The results were better a year later at the World Championships in South Korea. In the all-around competition, the German was 29th, 23rd over 500 m, 29th over 1000 m, 19th over 1500 m and 29th over 3000 m. At the Junior World Championships in 2002, the results were added nine over 500 m, eleven over 1000 m and eight over 1500 m. With the German relay he won the bronze medal behind South Korea and Canada. He then finished seventh over 500 m, 14th over 1000 m, sixth over 1500 m, eighth over 3000 m at the European Men's Championships in Grenoble and won the bronze medal behind Italy and Belgium with the German relay. The highlight of the season and a first career highlight were the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , in which Hartwig was used over 1500 m and reached the final 15th place on the route.

In the 2002/03 World Cup season , Hartwig and Arian Nachbar , Sebastian Praus and Holger Helas achieved a podium finish in the relay race in Bormio with third place. The next international championship was the 2003 European championships in Russia. Hartwig was 16th over 500 m, tenth over 1000 m, eighth over 1500 m and tenth with the relay. At the World Championships in Poland came 25th in the all-around competition, 20th over 500 m and 23rd over 1000 m and 1500 m. With the season Hartwig was fourth. At the 2004 European Championships in Zoetermeer , he won the bronze medal in the relay race again with Praus, Thomas Bauer and neighbor behind the Italians and Russians. In 2005 he was even able to win the title with these in Turin . The individual results were less good with 19th place over 500 m, 25 over 1000 m and 20 over 1500 m. In 2006 Hartwig won the relay bronze medal again with Praus, Bauer and Tyson Heung in Krynica-Zdrój . The 2006 Olympic Games in Turin marked the end of his career . Hartwig was only used in the run-up to the relay and ended up seventh with it.
