Thomas Dolliner (also: Tomaž Dolinar ) (* December 12, 1760 in villages near Altlack in the Kronland Carniola ; † February 15, 1839 in Vienna ) was an Austrian lawyer and university professor.

Life

Thomas Dolliner was initially tutored at home by a chaplain and later attended school in Tarvis in the Duchy of Carinthia . In 1772 he went to the Laibach grammar school , where he also attended lectures in philosophy and two years of theology. In 1782 he began studying law at the University of Vienna and finished it in 1786.

In 1788 he received the professorship for natural private, general constitutional and international law in the Oriental Academy and at the same time supplemented canon law at the University of Vienna. In 1789 he took over the chair of feudal and constitutional law at the Theresian Knight Academy , but was not graduated as a doctor of law until November 28, 1796 , although he had already passed the exams in 1787 and 1788. He came to Prague in 1801 as professor of canon law for the late Ferdinand Woldrzich von Ehrenfreund (1737–1800) and returned to Vienna in the same capacity in 1805. In 1810 he took over the professorship of Roman law at the University of Vienna and in 1811 was the editor of the new general civil code for the entire German hereditary countries of the Austrian monarchy . In 1816 he became an assessor of the Court of Justice Commission in matters of justice.

In 1824 he was appointed Real Councilor.

In 1831, the unmarried Thomas Dolliner retired at the age of 70, but then still took part in the general meetings of the Court of Justice Commission.

In recognition of his services, he was given the character of a real councilor .

According to his wish, he was buried in Maria Enzersdorf near Brunn im Gebirge near Vienna, where a simple tombstone marks his resting place.

He also wrote many reviews of historical and political works in the Annals of Art and Literature in the Austrian Imperial State 1802-1804, for the Oberdeutsche Literatur-Zeitung in Salzburg and in Zeiller's " Annual Contributions to Law and Law ".

Dollinergasse in Vienna- Oberdöbling was named after Thomas Dolliner in 1894 .
