Thomas Günther Wunderlich

Thomas Günther Wunderlich (born January 29, 1774 in Lübeck ; † March 21, 1852 ibid) was a German businessman and mayor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Wunderlich was a partner in the Lübeck wine store JM Brandt & Söhne . He was a member of the merchant company and was elected from the city council during Lübeck's French period in 1810. In 1811 he became municipal councilor of the now French city. With the restoration of the old council, he worked in the finance department from 1814 to 1821. From 1823 to 1831 he was a councilor and chairman of the lower court. In 1833 he was appointed mayor of Lübeck and retired shortly before his death in 1852 for reasons of age.

He was the first father-in-law of Johann Siegmund Mann jr. (1797-1863).

Wunderlich was the owner of the house at An der Obertrave 16, which was rebuilt in 1803-04 by the architect Joseph Christian Lillie . The demolition took place in 1984 in favor of the concert hall of the Lübeck University of Music .
