Thomas Gunkel

Thomas Gunkel (born on May 26, 1956 in Treysa , Schwalm-Eder-Kreis ) is a German literary translator who translates contemporary English-language literature into German.

Career

Gunkel passed his Abitur in 1976 and trained as an educator from 1978 to 1980 before studying German and geography at the Philipps University of Marburg from 1985 to 1991 . In 1991 he began to translate English-language novels into German for the Marburger Hitzeroth Verlag and has since worked as a freelance translator, also for various varieties of English. He lives with his family in Gilserberg .

Gunkel is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works (VdÜ).
