Thomas Jastram (born October 2, 1959 in Rostock ) is a German sculptor .

Life

Thomas Jastram was born as the son of the architect Dieter Jastram. After finishing school, he completed an apprenticeship from 1975 to 1978 in the studio of his uncle Jo Jastram . After graduating from high school in 1978, he studied at the Dresden University of Fine Arts from 1980 , which he completed in 1985 with a diploma from Helmut Heinze . In 1992 he had a teaching assignment for drawing and sculpture studies at the University of Education in Freiburg im Breisgau . From 1992 to 1993 Jastram was a master student at the University of Fine Arts in Dresden. Thomas Jastram has lived and worked as a freelance artist in Rostock since 1985. Here he has accepted several teaching positions, from 1993 to 1999 he was a teacher for plastic design and life drawing at the Kunstschule eV Rostock, from 1994 to 1997 teacher for artistic nude studies at the Design-Factory Hamburg and from 1998 to 2000 he had a teaching position for artistic nude studies and art history at the Hamburg Technical Art School. Since 2000, Jastram has been the director of the Rostock Technical Art School, which DA! Design Academy was taken over. In the same year Thomas Jastram moved to Hamburg-Eimsbüttel with his wife Christine.
