Thomas Jung (born November 1, 1957 in Idar-Oberstein ) is a German lawyer and politician ( AfD , formerly Die Freiheit ). In 2011 he was state chairman Brandenburg of the right-wing populist party Die Freiheit. He later became a board member of the AfD Brandenburg . From 2014 to September 2019 he was a member of the Brandenburg state parliament and deputy chairman of the AfD parliamentary group.

Life

Jung comes from Rhineland-Palatinate . After graduating from high school in 1977, he studied law and economics from 1980 to 1990 and at the Free University of Berlin , the WU Vienna , the University of Vienna , the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the Distance University in Hagen . He passed the first and second state examinations in law and established himself as a lawyer in 1990 ; henceforth he worked in Brandenburg an der Havel and Potsdam.

In addition to his work as a lawyer, Jung also works on a voluntary basis as a consultant for the Federal Association of Medium-Sized Enterprises (BVMW) and the Association of Representatives of the Pension Fund of Brandenburg Lawyers.

He is married with two children and lives in Potsdam .

Political party

Jung was a member of the CDU and from 1998 to 2011 a member of the CDU Economic Council . In 2010/11 he took part in the action to stop the left trend , an association of conservative CDU members.

In 2011 he was a member of the right-wing populist party Die Freiheit , whose Brandenburg regional association he led until he left; his deputy was Rainer van Raemdonck , today also a member of the AfD parliamentary group.

He supported the 2013 alternative and joined the AfD. He was an assessor in the state board of the AfD Brandenburg and became a member of the state committees for internal affairs and justice, BER and budget and finance as well as the program commission. He is currently spokesman for the state committees Freedom and Law in Security and Germany, Euro and Europe and chairman of the AfD district association in Potsdam.

Jung is deputy chairman of the AfD-affiliated Academic Erasmus Foundation and the Erasmus Foundation Brandenburg .

MP

In the state elections in Brandenburg in 2014 , he ran for fourth place on the state list and moved into the 6th Brandenburg state parliament . In September 2014, he was elected deputy group leader. He is a full member of the Committee for Home Affairs and Local Affairs A3 and the Legal Committee A4. After the state elections in Brandenburg in 2019 , Jung did not move into the Brandenburg state parliament again.
