Thomas Lorenzen (born July 23, 1940 in Meyn , Schleswig-Flensburg district ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 1979 to 1992 he was a member of the Landtag of Schleswig-Holstein .

Life and work

After Thomas Lorenzen graduated from high school, he completed an agricultural apprenticeship from 1959 to 1961. He passed the assistant examination and then attended the agricultural school in Flensburg for two semesters . In 1967 he passed his master craftsman examination and has been working as a self-employed farmer ever since . He is married and has five children.

politics

Lorenzen joined the CDU in 1969. For his party he was second deputy district chairman from 1974, from 1980 to 1992 he was chairman of the CDU district association Schleswig-Flensburg.

Lorenzen became a member of the general assembly of the Schleswig-Holstein Chamber of Agriculture in 1968, and from 1978 he was chairman of the finance committee. In 1978 he became second deputy chairman of the regional farmers' association in Flensburg and a member of the state main committee.

In 1970 he was elected community representative in Meyn and 1974 mayor of the community. From 1978 to 1985 he was head of the office of Schafflund . In 1970 Lorenzen was elected to the district council of Schleswig-Flensburg for the first time , and in 1974 he became chairman of the finance committee. From 1978 he was CDU parliamentary group leader in the district council and first deputy district administrator . In July 1979 he left the district council.

In the Schleswig-Holstein state elections in 1979 , 1983 and 1987 , Lorenzen was elected to the state parliament as a direct candidate for the CDU in constituency 3 (Flensburg-Land); in the 1988 election , he managed to re-enter the Kiel state parliament via the CDU state list. He was a member of parliament from May 29, 1979 to May 5, 1992. From April 1983 to August 1984 he was a member of the CDU parliamentary group committee, and from October 2, 1987 until he left the state parliament, he was deputy group chairman. In the state parliament, Lorenzen was active in the state election committee and in the finance committee, of which he was chairman from 1983 to 1987. He also chaired the Agriculture Committee from 1988 to 1992, of which he was also a deputy member for a long time.

Lorenzen took part in the ninth Federal Assembly on May 23, 1989 , at which Richard von Weizsäcker was elected Federal President .

Honors

Lorenzen was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 1987 and the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 1995, and he was also awarded the Freiherr vom Stein Medal of the State of Schleswig-Holstein.
