Thomas Pöge (born May 6, 1979 in Potsdam ) is a former German bobsleigh driver and former decathlete .

Thomas Pöge is a sports soldier in the German Armed Forces and has been actively involved in competitive sports , especially athletics, since he was eight. He won many national championship and German championship titles. In 1993 he specialized in the decathlon discipline of athletics. The most important success of his decathlon career he achieved in 1998 at the Junior World Championships in Annecy with the second place. Also worth mentioning is the 5th place at the 2001 European Championships in Amsterdam . He achieved his best performance in 2000 with 7853 points.

In 2002 Thomas Pöge switched to bobsleigh and started for the BSR Rennsteig Oberhof . Until 2007 he was a pusher for André Lange . He achieved almost all of his successes in the four-man bobsleigh. At the European Championships in 2005, he won the silver medal in the Lange foursome. At the Junior World Championships in 2003 (in Andre Zschocke's bobsleigh) and 2004 (in Karl Angerer's bobsleigh ) he won a four-man bronze. In the World Cup he won 3 races, 2003 in Calgary and Igls and 2004 in Calgary . In 2005 he came second in Lake Placid and third in Igls and Altenberg . The best result at the German Championships in 2008 was 1st place in the two-man bobsleigh and 2nd place in the four-man bobsleigh. In 2007 Pöge switched to René Spies , who ended his career before the start of the season due to injuries. Then Pöge switched to Matthias Höpfner's bobsleigh . With Matthias Höpfner, Thomas Pöge finished third in the four-man bobsleigh championships in Altenberg in February 2008. In 2009 he and the Angerer team reached 3rd place at the European Championships in St. Moritz after the injury of his pilot Höpfner. Thomas Pöge was an active member of the Angerer bobsleigh team from 2009 to September 2010. On September 13, 2010, he announced his official retirement from competitive sports.

In October 2010, Pöge began studying to become a police commissioner at the Brandenburg Police College in Oranienburg .
