In Pöhler's first exhibition in Great Britain, “The Devonian Window” in 2014, gallery owner Nick Deimel points out that Pöhler's main interest is the examination of natural processes, which he presents in various media such as painting , printmaking , photography and video . In doing so, he questions our modern conception of a separation between science and art. He is guided by a fundamental interest in scientific, especially geological, questions and always includes intuition and subjective perception as tools of knowledge in his investigations. He goes back to artistic and scientific concepts of the 18th and 19th centuries, which he translates into the present.

In the catalog for the exhibition “Fundamente, Phantoms” 2014, Armin Second notes: “Without explicitly taking up ecological subjects, his depictions raise the question of what time the earth remains or what history overtakes our planet. Last but not least, this background gives the (...) works their special topicality. "
