Thomas Raab (writer, 1968)

Thomas Raab (born November 23, 1968 in Graz ) is an Austrian writer , translator and cognitive researcher .

Life

After his Matura at the Graz BG Carnerigasse, Raab studied technical geology and philosophy at the University of Graz , the Technical University of Graz as well as the universities of Vienna and Berkeley. After completing his doctorate on the application of fuzzy quantities to geological data obtained in the field, he became friends with Oswald Wiener in 1998 . The two are united by their scientific and literary interests. Since then, they have been trying to rehabilitate self-observation for cognitive and emotional psychological purposes. As an author and translator, he tries to make fruitful experiences of the sometimes ironic appropriation of scientific knowledge for literary works and politically motivated essays.

In 2004 Raab took part in the Days of German-Language Literature in Klagenfurt. In 2008 he named himself "the greatest writer in the world" after the death of Michael Crichton .

He lives and works in Vienna .
