Thomas Eder (born April 18, 1968 in Linz ) is an Austrian literary scholar , lecturer at the Institute for German Studies at the University of Vienna and literary mediator.

research

Eder's research focuses on Austrian literature of the 20th century, literary theory and philosophy of language, literary modernism and poetry of the avant-garde; Relationship between epistemology , poetry and natural science; Cognitive Poetics .

Completed research projects are the edition of Heimito von Doderer's letters to Dorothea Zeemann and the FWF project “Concrete Poetry and Mimesis” at the Austrian Literature Archive of the Austrian National Library.

His habilitation project “Cognitive Literary Studies. A critical inventory ”is intended to present the young literary paradigm of the application of cognitive science knowledge to the consideration of literature in a critical manner. In case studies, the relationship between poetry and "consciousness" or poetry and "spirit" will be investigated on the basis of explicit or implicit underlying poetologies for works of poetry and prose since the end of the 18th century. The interdisciplinary research framework is defined by three disciplines: cognitive science , analytical philosophy of mind and literary studies .

Other activities

Eder has been an editorial member of the magazine Wespennest (review section) since 1999 , and since 2003 he has headed the literature section at the Kunsthaus Mürzzuschlag .
