Life
As a schoolboy, Becker stayed seated twice. After completing secondary school, he trained as a graphic draftsman at 4711 , then completed a technical college degree in social work via the second educational path . During his studies he lived for almost two years in a trailer park and financed his studies as a truck and tractor driver, among other things. He then worked in a printing company that friends of his had founded.
In March 2014 Becker had a motorcycle accident in which he broke bones in his arms and legs. At the end of 2014 he was back on stage.
Becker has a daughter.
Carnival and cabaret
In 1983 he was one of the founders of the Cologne Stunksitzung , of which he was "President" from 1984 to 1995. After visiting Hanns Dieter Hüsch's program And she moves me several times in 1985 , he wanted to do something like this too. He is said to have spoken to Hüsch about this after a performance. In 1989 Becker founded the Cologne cabaret trio 3Gestirn Köln 1 together with Heiner Kämmer and Wolfgang Nitschke . In 1990 Becker left the trio, and Wilfried Schmickler came for him .
Becker has been touring Germany as a solo cabaret artist since 1991. Among his solo programs, the biotope for the crazy is particularly worth mentioning, which tells the 2000-year history of Cologne in a very unique way.
Since 1992 he has hosted the cabaret show Mitternachtsspitzen with his colleagues Wilfried Schmickler and Uwe Lyko , which is broadcast eight times a year on WDR television . From 1994 to 1997 he performed together with Rüdiger Hoffmann with the program It is terrible, but it works. A home evening from North Rhine-Westphalia on nationwide. From 2008 to 2011 and 2013 he was seen as "Professor Becker" in the program Der third Bildungsweg on WDR. Since December 2010, Becker has been moderating the construction site in Germany on WDR television . In November 2014 he had a guest appearance on the cabaret show Die Anstalt . In 2020 Becker took on a guest role in the last episode of the crime series Professor T. as a homeless witness.
Becker has a long commitment to the radio wave WDR 2 . Since November 9, 1990, the “breakfast break” has been on Fridays at 10:50 am. The 1000th edition was broadcast on May 13, 2011. Under this label, political issues are addressed within the program, which is only a few minutes long - mostly current day - and staged as a dialogue between Jürgen Becker and Didi Jünemann . From 2003 to 2006 they were on tour with the stage program of the same name.
