Thomas Rid (born March 1, 1975 in Aach im Hegau ) is a German political scientist and non-fiction author .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1994 at the Nellenburg Gymnasium in Stockach , he studied social and political science with Herfried Münkler at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1997 to 2002 and for a year at the London School of Economics and Political Science . After completing his studies, Thomas Rid worked from 2003 to 2005 as a Fritz Thyssen Fellow at the Science and Politics Foundation (SWP) in Berlin. In 2006 he graduated from Humboldt University with a dissertation on embedded warfare. Militar learning and the media to the doctor ( Ph. D. ) PhD .

Thomas Rid research on the topics of war and media, terrorism, defense, cyber warfare , cyber security and also authored relevant monographs and essays, among others, in the Journal of Strategic Studies . For this he worked at the Institut français des relations internationales (Ifri) in Paris, at the Johns Hopkins University and at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC
