Thomas Schmidt (born February 12, 1950 in Hohen Neuendorf ) is a German dentist and was a politician of the German Social Union .

Life and work

After attending school and training as a horticulturist, Schmidt studied dentistry at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1970 to 1975 . He passed the state examination in 1975 and the specialist examination for stomatology in 1980 . From 1975 to 1981 he was deputy head of the Oranienburg Stomatological Polyclinic and since 1981 he has worked as a dentist in his own practice in Hohen Neuendorf. After serving as a member of parliament, he continued the dental practice after 1990. In 2008 he became deputy chairman of the board of the Brandenburg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists .

Schmidt joined the DSU in January 1990 and became its state chairman in Brandenburg . He was elected to the People's Chamber in the constituency of Potsdam in March 1990 . From May to October 1990 he was Parliamentary State Secretary in the Ministry of Health . In October 1990 he was one of the 144 MPs sent to the Bundestag by the People's Chamber . He was a member of the Bundestag until the end of the electoral term in December 1990 and was a guest of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group .
