Thompsonella is a genus of plants fromthe thick-leaf family (Crassulaceae). The botanical name of the genus honors the American botanist Charles Henry Thompson (1870–1931).

description

The species of the genus Thompsonella are perennial , bare herbaceous plants or subshrubs . They form stemless or almost stemless, more or less flat rosettes up to 42 centimeters in diameter. The rosettes consist of 10 to 25 stem-encompassing, thick-fleshed, flat or somewhat to very runny and often bluish leaves with straight or wavy edges. The (almost) sedentary, odorless flowers are five-fold and obdiplostemon .

The lateral, upright inflorescence is a narrow thyrse or is to the tip or completely eared and consists of 10 to 70 coils with 1 to 12  flowers each . The free, upright to ascending sepals are club-shaped and not spurred. The petals , which are briefly fused together at the base , are pale on the outside. Inside, they are covered with dark, merging, purple-red spots and lines on a pale yellow background. Their narrow edges are yellowish.

The fruit is an upright follicle fruit . The numerous pale yellowish-brown, shiny seeds contained therein are covered in a net-like manner with irregular longitudinal ribs.

Systematics and distribution

The genus Thompsonella is common in central and southern Mexico, where the plants mostly grow on limestone. The first description took Britton and Rose before 1909th According to Urs Eggli , the genus Thompsonella consists of the following species:
