Tilemann Olearius

Tilemann Olearius (born March 19, 1600 in Halle , † April 9, 1671 in Halle ) was a German Lutheran theologian and grammarian.

Life

The son of the theologian Johannes Olearius from his first marriage to Anna Hesshus was first a preacher in the country, then archdeacon at the St. Ulrichs Church in Halle and then emeritus. He gained importance through his German language art , published anonymously in 1630 , one of the earliest grammars of the German language.
